New Jersey is bordered on the north and northeast by New York; on the east by the Atlantic Ocean; on the south and southwest by Delaware; and on the west by Pennsylvania.
NJ is broadly divided into three geographic regions: North New Jersey, Central New Jersey and Southern New Jersey. North New Jersey is the closest area to New York and many residents commute to the city to work. Central New Jersey is a largely suburban area which is a little less expensive than much of the North. Thanks to a good train and bus network, many residents of Central New Jersey also commute to New York City to work. South New Jersey is within Princeton and Philadelphia's general sphere of influence, and most of it is included in the Delaware Valley. South New Jersey has sandy beaches which attract many visitors each summer.
